In addition to fans and control components, DX indoor units include a high efficiency evaporator for R410A or R32 refrigerant. Each indoor unit must be connected via refrigerant piping to a Conteg CoolOut outdoor compressor unit, or Mitsubishi Heavy Industry or Mitsubishi Electric units. This "split" system is then autonomously controlled by its own control. The units can be combined into control groups. All outdoor units are equipped with a speed-controlled compressor, electronic expansion valve and other high-end components. CONTEG offers three power types with nominal outputs from 7 kW up to 25 kW with stepless control. Our new CoolTeg Plus units use the latest technology and precise control based on our experience in data centers around the world. As the technology of fans, heat exchangers, compressors and especially the control elements are constantly evolving, we also have to modify our products to ensure the best performance for our customers.

The units are characterized by energy-saving EC fans and a high-efficiency heat exchanger. Temperature and humidity are measured in both the cold and warm zones and the area for the intake and exhaust of the conditioned air has been maximised for optimum air distribution. To control the operation of the units, we use a brand new controller with advanced CONTEG software, and a new 4.3" graphic colour touchscreen display that matches 21st century air conditioning technology. One display can be used for up to 16 air conditioning units in a data room with a maximum duct length of 500 m. Standard features include TCP/IP communication, integrated web server and remote control and monitoring via a computer on the internet network. CoolTeg Plus DX units are designed for connection to selected outdoor compressor units with state-of-the-art technology. CoolTeg Plus are state-of-the-art units from the precision cooling family suitable for efficient cooling of server rooms and data centres of all types.

The cooling system is limited by the distance between the indoor and outdoor unit (see detailed technical documentation) and their height difference. Cooling operation is guaranteed within the outdoor temperature range of -40 to +55 °C, depending on the type of unit. The CoolTeg Plus DX with outdoor unit is a highly efficient system with environmentally friendly refrigerant, particularly suitable for server rooms with a total capacity of up to 100 kW. When more cooling capacity is required, it becomes more economical to use a water-based system. The cooling capacity of each individual unit is varied according to the current requirements by the compressor power, the opening of the electronic expansion valve and the fan speed of the outdoor and indoor units. When it is necessary to reduce the relative humidity of the space to a set-point, the unit automatically responds by reducing the airflow and increasing the cooling capacity. CoolTeg Plus DX units feature maximum sensible performance relative to latent performance precisely because of the advanced humidity control logic. Year-round energy consumption is therefore significantly lower compared to other air conditioners.

The indoor unit can be powered through the outdoor unit or separately. The momentary cooling capacity is adjusted by changing the speed of the compressor, indoor fans, and outdoor fans to keep the temperature set-points. The minimal cooling capacity is about 30 % for Mitsubishi units and 11% for CoolOut units of the rated output. In the long term, the heat load must reach at least 50 % of the nominal cooling capacity determined by the outdoor unit.
